Review request templates

Copy-paste messages for asking customers to leave a review, by email, text, and in person. Short, friendly, and written not to sound like spam. Swap in the bracketed details and send.

What makes a request actually work

  • Ask at the peak. The best moment is right after someone tells you they are happy, not a week later on a schedule. The warmer the moment, the higher the response.
  • Keep it short and send one link. One friendly line and one direct link. Every extra sentence or choice is a reason to put it off.
  • Make it feel like a reply, not a campaign. A short, personal message converts far better than a branded template that reads like marketing. Use their name and a specific detail.
  • Never pay for reviews. Don't offer a discount or gift in exchange for a review. It breaks Google's policies and can get your reviews removed. Just ask.

Or stop writing them one by one

These templates work, but someone still has to spot the happy customer and send the message at the right time. lovesignal does that part: it watches your Gmail for the replies where a customer says something genuinely happy and drafts a request like these for you to approve and send from your own inbox, so the ask lands while the goodwill is fresh.

Questions

How do I ask a customer for a review?
Ask soon after a good experience, keep the message short and personal, and include one direct link to the exact review page. The templates on this page do all three. Pick the one that fits the moment and swap in the details.
What is the best time to send a review request?
While the goodwill is fresh, usually within a day or two of finishing the work, or immediately after a customer says something positive. A request sent weeks later, on a schedule, converts far worse.
Is it OK to offer a discount for a review?
No. Google prohibits incentivising reviews, and it can get your reviews removed. Ask sincerely instead, most happy customers are glad to help if you make it easy.
How do I get more of these sent without chasing everyone?
That is what lovesignal does: it watches your Gmail for the replies where a customer says something happy and drafts a request like these for you to approve and send, so the ask goes out at the right moment without you writing each one.
